Air short circuit or sealing defect

Air bypasses its intended path, or discharge re-enters the intake through an incorrect installation.

What happens

Air bypasses its intended path, or discharge re-enters the intake through an incorrect installation.

Typical symptoms

Poor performance with seemingly open wall ports; drafts or unusual cabinet temperatures.

Checks that distinguish this cause

Compare wall depth, adapter fit, internal separation and sealing with the model installation. Trace the actual intake/discharge paths rather than assuming two visible holes prove correct separation.

What can look similar

Outdoor wind or an internal control fault may also affect operation; use the model limits and evidence.

Repair direction

Correct the verified sealing, separation or mounting defect using approved materials.

Verify the repair

Verify intended air routing, room sealing and performance during the previously failing condition.

Equipment-specific limits

Applies to compatible AIO/Unico-style equipment, not a conventional split outdoor condenser. Adapter geometry, hole size, clearance and sealing requirements depend on the cabinet and model.
