Compressor troubleshooting
Raises refrigerant pressure and circulates refrigerant; its motor, protection and mechanical pumping function are separate diagnostic questions.
Failure causes
Choose a cause for symptoms, checks that separate it from similar faults, repair direction and verification.
Open motor winding →An internal winding path is broken, preventing intended motor operation.Winding fault to shell →Insulation failure creates an unintended electrical path to the compressor shell.Thermal overload open →The motor protector interrupts operation because of heat or an abnormal operating condition.Locked motor or poor pumping →Mechanical damage can prevent rotation or reduce pressure lift even when electrical paths are intact.
