Accessibility statement
We want every technician to be able to use hvacsim.com, including those using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or magnification.
Conformance target
This site aims to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We assess conformance by self-evaluation; it has not been independently audited.
What we have built in
- Every meter mode carries a text label and a spoken description, not just a dial icon.
- Meter readings are announced to screen readers as they change.
- All controls are reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Dialogs trap focus, close with Escape, and return focus where you left it.
- A skip link jumps past the navigation to the main content.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed — status is also stated in words.
- Motion respects your system "reduce motion" setting.
- Layout reflows to a single column on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
- The ladder diagram is a complex interactive graphic. It has a text description, and every terminal on it is also available as a labelled button on the equipment tabs, which is the recommended path for screen reader users.
- The sim assumes a pointing device or keyboard; there is currently no voice-control-specific mode.
Feedback
If you hit a barrier, tell us and we will fix it. Email coreyrcards@gmail.com with the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within five business days.
